QC Newsletter March 2014 - Area Rug Cleaning and Upholstery Cleaning

Area Rug Cleaning

A survey by the IICRC found that 64% of U.S. homeowners have area rugs in their homes, however only 40% clean them on a regular basis. Like carpets, rugs require proper maintenance to retain their appearance and durability.

Area rugs tend to be made of more delicate fibers, questionable dyes and woven constructions that can easily be damaged by do-it-yourself procedures or even professionals without adequate training and experience.

Certified technicians are trained to recognize different fibers, constructions and types of carpet and rugs, along with their potential problems. They have     the equipment, training and experience to restore the beauty of carpet and rugs - improving the look of your home or business and protecting the indoor environment, as well as your investment.

Upholstery Cleaning

To keep your furniture clean, it's necessary to conduct routine maintenance including vacuuming and immediate attention to spills, coupled with periodic cleaning by a certified technician every one to two years. Furniture and fabric  manufacturers recommend that consumers not wait until severe soiling occurs before cleaning because the greater the soiling, the less the likelihood of restoring the fabric's original color, appearance and texture.

Regular cleaning of fabric and leather furnishings by a trained, certified technician can help restore your furniture's appearance, extend its life and keep it looking like new. Moreover, certified technicians can offer simple suggestions to maintain a clean and healthful home or business environment overall.

QC Newsletter January 2014 - Carpet Tips

Happy New Year from the staff of Quick and Clean Services. Here are some New Years carpet tips.

Tip #1 Entry Mats - Entry ways are often the most heavily soiled areas ofcarpet in the home.  The simplest yet most effective way in keeping these high traffic areas from becoming heavily soiled is to use entry mats.

Tip #2 Take Off Your Shoes - You can save wear and tear on carpet by asking everyone to take off his or her shoes before entering your home.

Tip #3 Change Your Air Filters - Changing air filters in your heating and air conditioning systems as recommended by the manufacturer's directions.  The more dust and particles removed by the filter, the less that fall on the carpet.

Tip #4 Vacuum, Vacuum, Vacuum - Increase vacuum frequency.  Since about75% of carpet soil is dry particulate, vacuuming more often prevents soil from embedding deep into carpets.  Vacuum heavy traffic areas slowly and repeatedly.

Tip #5 Remove Spots Immediately - Spots that are not immediately removedcan turn into permanent stains very easily.  Always use a spot cleaner that is recommended by the carpet manufacturer or your trained, certified professional
cleaner!  Many “over the counter” spotters leave too much soap that leaves a sticky residue behind that will make your spots return!

Tip #6 Carpet Protectant - Next time you have your carpets cleaned asked us about carpet protectant.  The soil resistor that is built into stain resistant nylon carpet is removed with regular foot traffic and harsh cleaners.

To keep your carpet cleaner longer, have protector reapplied each time you have your carpet professional cleaned.
